Lizeth Covarrubias
Founder of Medicine Wheel Tulum — temazcal, cacao and sound
Lizeth, who carries the ceremonial name Quetzalli, is the founder of Medicine Wheel Tulum. She left a corporate marketing career in Mexico City in 2005 to study Buddhism and Vipassana, then reconnected with her indigenous Mexican heritage through the Moon Dance and trained as a Temazcalera. Medicine Wheel runs ancestral ceremonies including temazcal, cacao, sound healing, Janzu, ice baths and Mayan clay rebirth rituals.
Current sessions

- ◦ Cacao ceremonies
- ◦ Sound healing sessions with quartz crystal bowls and drums
- ◦ Mayan clay rebirth ritual and ice bath ceremonies
Background
Lizeth was born in Mexico City and trained as a Temazcalera through years of practice with Mexica elders and the Moon Dance tradition. She founded Medicine Wheel Tulum to share earth-based ceremonies in the Riviera Maya context.
How she works
Medicine Wheel sessions are rooted in indigenous cosmology and elemental wisdom — copal, fire, drums, quartz singing bowls and cacao are used as ceremonial tools. Sound healing is integrated alongside Janzu, ice baths and clay rituals as part of a full-spectrum approach.
Where to find her
Medicine Wheel runs from a dedicated space in Tulum, open daily 8am–6pm, with bookings via WhatsApp, email or the website.
