Alexandra Barba is a Gestalt psychotherapist and sound alchemist who co-founded Moon Beats Studio in Roma Norte, Mexico City. She trained as an Onanya in the Shipibo lineage in the Peruvian Amazon, and complements her sound work with magical and medicinal herbalism, bioenergetics and hypnosis. She holds one of the country's largest collections of quartz bowls — over thirty — and leads ceremonies with cacao under the Maya lineage.

Background
Alexandra Barba — known as Alexa Moon Beats — left an executive career to train as an Onanya (Shipibo healer) for four months in the Peruvian Amazon. She is a Gestalt psychotherapist and sound alchemist, and co-founded Moon Beats Studio with her husband Efrén Trejo, alongside Gerardo and Lorena Pozos.
How she works
Her practice fuses Gestalt psychotherapy, sound alchemy and ceremonial work, drawing on a personal collection of more than thirty quartz bowls plus gongs, voice and icaros. She holds cacao ceremonies under the Maya lineage and integrates herbalism, bioenergetics and hypnosis where appropriate.
